ExtraPerceptualCell

James Anderson – ExtraPerceptualCell

2016

ExtraPerceptualCell is a piece where participants were invited to lie down on a massage table, which was equipped with a VR display. A generative video was shown to the user, which in combination with the relaxation of muscles, provided the illusion of falling or drifting through space. The goal of the space was to bring participants closer to full immersion in a digital simulation by reducing the physical sensation of being in a room and using a VR equipment.

James Anderson is a artist and musician who is interested in different digital processes and exploration of audiovisual art. He is currently pursuing a BFA in Music Technology from California Institute of the Arts.

ExtraPerceptualCell was installed in the WaveCave from October 3rd to October 10th, 2016.
